Istanbul Modern continued its activities from its establishment in 2003 till 2018 in a customs warehouse which belonged to Turkish Maritime Organization located in Karaköy district. After demolishment of existing building during the renovation and transformation works of this coastal area within the scope of the Galataport Project in 2018, Istanbul Modern moved to historical Union Française Building after restoration as a temporary space located in Beyoğlu Meşrutiyet Street.
